Madeira è pronta ad accogliere questo weekend il terzo round dell’Enduro World Series, l’Enduro World Series powered by Freeride Madeira, con il sostegno di Absolute Black. Questa piccola isola dell’Oceano Atlantico, situata tra il Portogallo e la costa africana, sarà lo scenario di una grande gara.
Nei due giorni di gara i rider dovranno affrontare davvero ogni tipo di sentiero immaginabile, in un contesto famoso per la grande varietà di terreno.
9 Speciali in tutto, 4 il primo giorno e 5 il secondo, per una distanza complessiva di circa 95 km.
Dai rocciosi e ripidi singletrack vulcanici, agli stretti sentieri immersi nelle foreste native, i rider si troveranno a sperimentare prove speciali molto diverse tra loro, alcune su sentieri naturali e altri appositamente costruiti, così da mettere alla prova ogni singola abilità di guida.
L’inizio di stagione è stato letteralmente “inzuppato” e ha visto, nel primo e secondo round, alcuni dei grandi nomi in difficoltà nel mantenere il consueto dominio in classifica, cosa che sicuramente cercheranno di migliorare durante la prossima gara.
Tra gli Uomini, Adrien Dailly (Lapierre Gravity Republic) è in cima alla classifica dopo la vittoria nella Shimano Enduro Tasmania, ma ad inseguirlo ci sono, distanziato di soli 30 punti, il pilota del Cube Action Team Greg Callaghan e, in terza posizione distanziato di altri 20 punti, Sam Hill (Chain Reaction Cycles Mavic).
A dominare la classifica femminile è sempre Cecile Ravanel (Commencal Vallnord Enduro Team), con Ines Thoma del team Canyon Factory Enduro in seconda posizione e Katy Winton del Trek Factory Racing Enduro Team in terza.
Tuttavia, Isabeau Courdurier (SUNN) ha conquistato la sua prima vittoria EWS all’ultimo round e certamente anche questo fine settimana lotterà per la posizione più alta del podio.
Karim Amour (BH-Miranda Racing Team) conduce nella categoria Master Uomini, ma dovrà far attenzione a Nigel Page (Chain Reaction Cycles Mavic) e al Campione del Mondo in carica Michael Broderick, rispettivamente in seconda e terza posizione.
Anche nella classifica team la competizione non potrebbe essere più serrata, con il GT Factory Racing che conduce, ma inseguito dal Canyon Factory Enduro Team, a soli 5 punti di distanza, e dal Rocky Mountain – Urge bp al terzo posto.

Varia ed esotica, con sentieri che dalle cime di vulcani scendono nella giungla e poi fino alla costa. Questa terra ci propone tipologie di sentieri completamente diverse da quelle incontrate nei primi due round in Nuova Zelanda e in Tasmania, ma è proprio questa ampia varietà di sfide tipica dell’Enduro World Series che ci darà modo di continuare a scoprire i migliori talenti della mountain bike al mondo.»
